I was between jobs and needed a way to provide for my family. I applied for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) during which time, I developed new job skills. Using the knowledge gained from my training, I later landed a position working on the political campaign of a well-known Maryland Councilman. I later pursued a new position where I was promoted after 1 year and dropped from the welfare rolls. Today, I am completely self-sufficient and married to my childen's dad!
